My Eye Essentials

Today’s post is a lot different from what I’ve been posting on this blog and I thought it was high time I put up something that really is a reflection of my personal style. I contemplated a few ideas from a styled shoot to a peep into my closet, but this shoot happened completely impromptu and I thought it was a perfect start! Besides that I had a blast with Prashant trying to  figure out the DSLR!
I own way too much make up, more than I actually think I use! I think I get excited with all the new products bombarding the beauty counters and in all honesty I can’t resist them. However I’ve stuck to one routine which focuses on the eyes for as long as I know and I think it works for me. My skin is very sensitive and foundations/blushers really make me break out, so I try to avoid them as much as I can.
Since I have tiny eyes, I avoid using coloured eye shadow or too much kohl. My eye routine basics of late consist of L’oreal Base Magique Primer, Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner, Le Volume de Chanel Mascara and my handy eyelash curlers.

A couple of months ago if someone asked me what a primer was used for, I’d go blank! Ever since I stumbled over this jar of magic, I really can’t do without it. By the end of the day my eye liner would either smudge or I’d be streaked with ugly crease lines.. not very nice!! L’oreal’s Base Magique primer really does wonders to even out the crease lines, making sure your eye shadow or liners stay put. Over this I generally tend to dust a little bit of powder just to help me blend in the liner.
My next step is to tackle the eye liner (I have a knack of making one eye bigger then the other)! I love Maybelline’s Eye Studio Gel Liner mainly because apart from being a liner, it also blends extremely well for a smokey effect. And it honestly lasts long, perfect for an everyday makeup routine. I generally tend to wingtip my eyes, so they look a little bigger and its a little less boring then normal kohl lined eyes.
When it comes to mascara, I don’t use it everyday, depends on my mood really! However I don’t think any girl should go without mascara, its an instant eye uplifter and can really make a huge difference. A friend at work recently told me to mix in some baby oil with the mascara, so your eyelashes keep moisturized! I’ve just begun doing that and it does work a charm! I love Chanel’s new Le Volume mascara, which comes only in Noir and has a ‘snowflake wand’ which is supposed to give you quick and instantly longer eyelashes- works for me!
So here’s a glimpse into a little piece of my style.. let me know what you girls think. Want to see more posts like this?

  1. Yes, yes, you must write more posts such as these! I do love your picture the most, I have to say. It's simple and elegant and very stylish. I want to get into taking pictures of myself (outfit posts or whatever for my blog) but I think it will take me sometime before I do. Too awkward in front of the camera! {www.jupiterskye.com}
